All the tables for the Gen 2 Tilting Belt Grinder mount on a vertical 1.5″/40mm square tube, which locks into the Table Holder. This table is welded solid at 90°, and can be used with any of the attachments, in either orientation. The table is backward compatible with the Gen 1 Tilting Belt Grinder.
Design highlights
Simple, sturdy and reliable
It’s easy to build tables for the belt grinder, since they are simply mounted on a vertical square tube. This fixed table has no moving parts, and cannot be knocked out of square. And since it’s always at 90° to the belt, you never have to check it. I recommend also building the Adjustable Angle Table, but it’s still nice to have this one so you can switch back and forth between angles.
Support structure adds stiffness and preserves flatness
If the table surface is welded directly to the post, it will tend to warp. To keep the surface flat, I welded a flatbar frame to the top of the post, then tack welded the table surface to that. The small tack welds won’t warp the table, so it stays flat. This also makes it easier to get the table surface perfectly square to the post, and it adds stiffness.
Indexable
The square tube post allows the table to be rotated to any of four positions. Put the notch toward the belt when using the grinder in vertical mode, or turn it sideways (shown above) if you need to support a long workpiece. Turn the notch away from the belt when using the grinder in horizontal mode.

Want one for yourself?
Like the Belt Grinder, the Fixed Table is designed to be as easy as possible to build, without compromising on performance and versatility. The only power tools required are an angle grinder & a welder, and you should be able to finish the table in an hour. Plans for the Fixed Table are included with the Gen 2 Tilting Belt Grinder plans.
