Hold-down Clamps for XY Table

The XY Table for the Tilting Belt Grinder allows you to grind flat faces on odd-shaped parts, and these Hold-down Clamps are what you use to secure those workpieces. They double as adjustable end-stops.

Design highlights

Simple, easy to make

Made from four pieces of plain steel, with no holes, curves, or internal corners. The slot for the bolt is formed by the opening between the four parts, instead of needing to be cut out of a part.

Doubles as an adjustable end stop

The “heel” of the Clamp sticks up, so when the clamp is mounted upside-down to the bottom of the table, it catches on the Infeed Stage. This can be used to limit the XY Table’s travel to a repeatable range of motion, or lock it completely.

Detailed PDF plans

The plans include a list of all materials and hardware needed, 1:1 printable templates for the parts, and detailed, step-by-step instructions with pictures to help you assemble your own Hold-down Clamps. They also come with DXF drawings that can be used to CNC cut the parts, if desired. The plans are included with the XY Table plans, which you can buy with the buttons below.
